Facing a plumbing issue in your rental home?
It's easy to handle many drain clogs on your own. The best tool is a simple plunger, which you can purchase at most big box and grocery stores. If you have a toilet clog, press the plunger over the drainage hole, create suction, and move it up and down rapidly.
You can try the same technique on shower and sink drains. You might also want to purchase drain cleaning chemicals, but be sure to only purchase those that are safe for plumbing use and non-corrosive.
If you lose electrical power in your rental home, call the utility provider immediately. Your electrical company has up-to-date information on current outages and they can send a technician if there is a problem on the grid.
Don't have hot water? Your water heater should maintain a steady supply of water for your rental. Locate your tank and check that the settings on the side are accurate.
Does your heater have a pilot light? If so, verify that it's lit. Some water heaters also have vacation modes, where they generate less water than usual. Make sure your heater is not in this mode before contacting us.
Are your temperature controls acting up? If your heat or air conditioning isn't working properly, try to troubleshoot using the central thermostat in your home.
